About Gateway

A fast, private, multi-source search engine built by XPDevs.

Gateway is a client-side search engine that starts with a bundled local index. There is no Gateway backend, account, or analytics system. The index is loaded into your browser and kept in IndexedDB, so local matching and ranking happen on your device.

For fresher coverage, Gateway can optionally query public open-data endpoints. Wikipedia supplies article extracts and cited external links; Wikidata supplies structured claims used by Quick Wiki. The relevant subject is sent only to those services when you search, and the services may process it under their own privacy policies. Gateway does not send your full browsing history or build a profile.

Why Gateway?

Most search engines maintain massive server-side indexes requiring enormous infrastructure and data collection. Gateway takes a different approach: a local index stored in your browser, with optional public open-data calls for fresher context. Local matches remain available offline, and Gateway has no data centre, account, or advertising profile.

Gateway is open source and available on GitHub.

Your searches

Gateway remembers what you searched so you can find it again. The search history is kept in your own browser, is never uploaded, is never sent with a search, and can be switched off or deleted in one click. It is not used to build a profile or to change how results are ranked. See Privacy for the full detail.
